Scattering human ashes at sea
Burial At Sea
Ocean scattering is the choice to return the ashes of the deceased to nature rather than burying them in a grave. We can accommodate a variety of requests, including concerns about the remains of a loved one, such as memorial services and grave closures, and returning the ashes of a loved one who loved the sea to the ocean.

About the Ocean Scattering Plan
Tokyo Bay Plan

You can rent the boat exclusively and say your final farewells with just your family and close friends.
Hawaii Plan
Sagami Bay Plan

We will charter a boat for a small ceremony on Oahu, Hawaii. A director of ocean scattering from Japan will accompany you.
Sagami Bay Plan

We will travel to the scattering point on a SUP and hold the ceremony. You can spend your farewell time in a slightly different style.
For those who are unable to scatter the ashes on board for various reasons, Yokohama Ocean Ashes will scatter the ashes on your behalf. The scattering ceremony will be shared live and recorded on the day.
Transportation and collection of remains
◉ご遺骨のオフィスへのお持ち込みはお断りしています。
For all plans, the remains can be sent in advance by mail, or staff can come to collect them (paid option).
Suppliers and price list
It is not illegal to mail cremated remains, and the process of requesting a delivery company to send the remains by mail and then holding a memorial service is called "sending bones."
The only courier that can mail ashes within Japan is Japan Post . Please send them by "Yu-Pack". Shipping fees vary depending on weight, size, distance, etc. (Example: Tokyo to Osaka / 25kg or less x 140cm total of three sides, shipping fee is 1,950 yen.)
For more information, please click here (this will take you to the Japan Post website).
When packing, it is important to make sure that the ashes do not spill and that the urn does not break. If you simply pack the urn containing the ashes into a box for mailing and send it, the lid of the urn may open and the ashes may spill out, or the urn may break due to the impact during mailing. Please pack the ashes carefully.
When transferring ashes from an urn and sending them
骨壷の素材(セラミック・ガラスなど)が破損しやすい場合は、遺骨を袋に移し替えて郵送いただくことも可能です。
Secure the urn lid with duct tape or plastic wrap. *There are urn lids that open easily by lifting them up, and locking lids that cannot be removed without turning them. If the urn lid is not a locking lid, be sure to secure it with duct tape or similar to prevent it from opening.
Place the urn with the lid secured in a plastic bag.
Put cushioning material in the shipping box.
*Newspaper or bubble wrap will do, but it's a good idea to put in towels or something similar to absorb the water.
If you place a towel underneath and securely surround the urn with newspaper or something similar, you won't have to worry about the ashes spilling out.
On the Yu-Pack shipping slip, write "remains" in the item name column.
There are also companies that sell items necessary for mailing ashes. (Example: Ashes Mailing Kit) )
